- Sub MOA barrelBought this in 2013 and still get Sub MOA groups at 100m. Midwest Industries Upper, Lower and Free Float Handguard. 10.8 lbs rifle with Aimpoint M68 CCO, Surefire IR light and Magpul M16A1 style stock. Great DMR/Battle Rifle build. Not the lightest setup, but the S2W is durable, doesn't heat up as fast and has less POI shift vs Govt Profile bbl.

- This is a Sub Moa barrel but you need 77 grI bought this barrel over 8 years ago but just finished the build maybe a bit over a year and half ago. With 77 gr Sierra Match king ammo, loaded with N140 Vihta powder this barrel is sub MOA. I was able to shoot 3/4" groups at 200 yards with it, no problem, it's an awesome barrel. Heavy yes, but very accurate.

- LOVES 77gr SierraI built an upper around a high rate-of-fire build using the DD 18” Heavy CHF CL barrel. I broke it in with 200 rounds of rapid fire. But then I put that upper on a lower designed for precision fire and loaded it with IMI Razor core 77gr Sierra OTM. 5-shot group at 100 yds was 1/2 inch. Then immediately repeated it at 200 yds with the next 4 shots. Now I’m conflicted - my “bullet hose” upper turns out to be exceptionally accurate. Barrel purchased new in late 2024.

- Durable and AccurateBuilt an SPR using this barrel and have greatly enjoyed this rifles performance. Upper is a 13.25 LMT MRP-L, Radian enhanced BCG, and of course this DD 18" barrel modified by D.Wilson to fit the LMT receiver. I am averaging 3100+fps with M193 (PMC, Federal, Winchester) and it does 2 to 2.5 moa consistently. Nothing to write home about, but normal for M193.
That’s not why I did this build though. Like most SPR builds this thing really wakes up with 77 grain OTM loads and handles sustained suppressed used very well. I have gotten several 9 shot groups at 1 moa, but the system as a whole (rifle, ammunition, myself) I am typically around 1.25 to 1.5 moa. It seems to favor Federal Gold Medal Match 77 gr OTM (several groups at .8/.9 moa) but I will happily feed it AAC 77 gr OTM where it lives around the 1.25 moa mark averaging 2680 fps. Hopefully this gives readers some data points when considering this barrel, I have been happy with it.Posted on
- Great durability and accuracy as a machine gun barrelI used this barrel to upgrade a Lage MFG MAX11-15 upper. I probably have close to 10k rounds of full auto fire down this barrel and it's just now starting to show signs of approaching mid-life internal wear. It is still capable of producing 3 shot burst impacts on a man size target at 300y in this gun which is a testament to the durability of this barrel.

- Better start liftingBarrel works well even after sustained fire. 1 MOA with iron sights/Primary Arms glass. Group starts expanding after about 100 Rds (1 round per 10 sec)
However, if equipped with a knights M5 rail for a mk12 clone, this thing is F-ing heavy. If you're trying to hunt with this thing you better be a strong person. I was smoked after a day of hog hunting on foot (8-12 miles, wearing chest rig not PC).

- Jury is outI have a DDM4V11S2W with 18” barrel. Using Blackout 76gr loads was unable to get a group under 2.5 inches at 100yds. Using 55gr Hornady V Max avg group about one inch best group was 1/2 inch. Seems like a quality build but jury is still out for me.

- Excellent barrelFirst trip to the range, just to mount the optic and zero. The build Technicals follow:
Spike's Tactical Upper, Spike's Tactical M16 BCG, Seekins lower, Velocity 3-pound trigger, Mentium handguard, Nightforce NXS 3.5-15X56 NP-R1 optic. Barrel: Daniel Defense 5.56, Strength-to-weight, 18", rifle length gas system.
Hand loaded 75 grain, Hornady BTHPs, over 25 grains of Varget, in LC 5.56 brass, and a SR primer.
Results: I placed the first 3 shots through a single hole at 50 yards. I had identical results with factory loaded, Frontier .223 Rem, 68 grain BTHPs. In all, over 50 shots fired, exceptional accuracy. Zero stayed zero, hot or cold made no difference in POA to POI.
Excellent barrel! Now I am off to write a review of my DD strength-to-weight .300 AAC Blackout...equally fantastic barrel. Please read that review as well.
Thank-you Daniel Defense!

- Will put holes in paper...not tight groups.Ordered mine over a year ago now. Have put several hundred rounds through it. It gives less than tight groups. Average of inch and a half to two inch groups. I have tried everything from match grade Hornady ammo, to 62 grain green tip. The gas block was installed from the factory and the pin would not drift into slot. Contacted Daniel defense, never heard back from them. So in short, spend your money wisely and shop around.
