The M4A1 AR15 style Upper Receiver Group features the RIS II picatinny quad rail, which has been in use by US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) for the SOPMOD Block II program since 2005. The M4A1 is built around a 14.5 inch Cold Hammer Forged M4 Profile barrel with a permanently attached Daniel Defense Flash Suppressor. The independently ambi GRIP-N-RIP Charging Handle accommodates left- and right-handed shooters. All Daniel Defense complete upper receiver groups come standard with an M16 profile bolt carrier group.

- Great upper. Worth itI purchased the v7 pro and loved it so much I turned around and purchased an m4a1 upper to match it and paired it with a bcm lower. So far I’ve been very impressed in the quality and performance of both rifles. So much so I intend on a purchase of a 300 blackout upper just for giggles. I’ve ran cheap 223 through super quality ammo and all I’ve been flawless and precise. With a red dot or scope this thing shoots for me and makes me feel confident I purchased the right equipment.

- Fantastic Upper, you will not be disappointedThe RIS II rail and barrel quality is top notch, if you need performance and tight groups without building an upper yourself - look no further. You can put a few thousand rounds through this in a day at a carbine course or other heavy training day with no fears of performance problems. DD makes great rifles and has a reputation for high grade quality.
Gas port is larger and with the carbine length gas system its a smidge over gassed, which is okay as its what DD is known for. If you don't know what any of that means, then don't worry about it because it doesn't apply to you, but you too should look into purchasing a suppressor and normalizing NFA items.Posted on
- Versatile AFYou see a lot of rifles on the shelf but no other brand comes close to a Daniel Defense. Out of the box shoots better than longer 5.56 barrels and even some bolt guns. Lightweight for a picatinny rail, and super comfortable and not bulky. Perfect for range time/off duty training, hog hunting, and predator hunting. Perfect upper for it all!

- Fantastic overall upperIf you want a rugged, bomb proof, yet accurate upper that's short and handy enough to be suited for a variety of roles, then this upper is a great pick. It's easily sub moa with the right shooter and ammo. Very accurate with M193 and M855 too. The only real downside is the weight. It's certainly no pig, but it's a little heavier than most Mlok handguard equipped uppers. The SOCOM profile barrel also adds to the weight a little.

- Up dateTook this rifle to the range again and really stretched it out this upper is fantastic very accurate I have a lot of ARs but this one was my first Daniel Defense and it was ready to go right out of the box it is now my go to rifle and I take it everywhere with me

- Block2 clonePicked up one from a local gun shop a couple of day ago got it for a reasonable price mounted it on an Aero precision lower I built for it and took it to the range and it’s definitely a sub MOA rifle very impressed if you are looking at one for yourself do hesitate you will not be disappointed.
