DDM4®V7®

The Daniel Defense V7 is the first rifle in the DDM4 lineup to feature the M-LOK® attachment technology with the Daniel Defense MFR 15.0 rail. Built around a Cold Hammer Forged, 16” barrel, the V7 has a DD improved Flash Suppressor to reduce flash signature. The mid-length gas system provides smooth and reliable cycling under any condition and reduces both perceived recoil and wear on moving parts.  A free-floating MFR 15.0 handguard offers incredible weight savings as well as superior cooling, ergonomics, and modularity while maintaining the strength and durability expected from Daniel Defense. With the M-LOK attachment points that run along 7 positions and an uninterrupted 1913 Picatinny rail on top, the V7 has plenty of room for the sights, optics, and accessories the user may require.  The rifle is finished off with the rugged and comfortable Daniel Defense Buttstock and Pistol grip.

switching to BCM.
So I've had 3 DD rifles over the last few years and they have been good for the most part. Although they all have been really picky about being dirty they have been ok. I suggested a DDM4v7 to my father and the first time we took it out I was horrified at how stiff the action was, basically the whole gun was stiff and the action was just plain gritty and felt like it was slow and dragging the whole way. The ambi safety is so stiff that its rather hard to switch off and forget getting it back on during stressful shooting drills. Rifle wouldn't strip rounds from the magazine with out being helped and after 80 rounds all 4 screws holding the handguard on rattled loose... Shame on you DD..

Not worth the cost.
The cost is high for a weapon extremely similar to other already in the market. Panther Arms and Smith are under $1,000 for a very familiar and similar platform.
It is a gas system like others. Not piston driven which would be the only reason to spend this kind of money on an AR type weapon. The numbers alone do not justify the difference.

An absolutely wonderful rifle.
Not much I can add that has not previously been stated by others here. This is a very nice rifle and has quickly become my favorite firearm.

As you would expect from Daniel Defense, the quality is top notch and it shoots wonderfully. Some people may think it's a little pricey considering you can get a competitor's for around half as much. However, given the quality of the product produced compared to those, the price point is well placed and well worth it.

In short, with this, you will never be disappointed.

Detailed DDM4V7 Experience/Recommendations
Great rifle! I enjoy shooting this rifle and enjoy just looking at it because its a sexy looking gun. however I did notice on my very first magazine I had 2 or 3 of what seemed like light trigger strikes, but I'm unsure. It could of been user error, but its something that caught my attention. also I checked my serial number of my rifle to see if it was affected by the recall that they had for the trigger, but mine was not effected even though I still had a issue with my trigger. This is one of two reasons I rated this gun a 4 star across the board. My second reason is for the money I feel like the rifle should come with Iron sights included. I understand most people put on a expensive optic on this high quality of a rifle but having those back up iron sights would definitely help on sales I believe. I bought this gun before deployment so I've only had a few days to test it and shoot it. Despite my issue with the trigger and it not having iron sights, most likely I will be throwing in a Geissele SSA-E and a vortex razor anyway, but I understand not everyone can afford these options after the purchase of this rifle so I highly recommend some Magpul MBUS Pro iron sights, as I wish I did. I have only shot about 160 rounds through this rifle using a Sig Sauer Romeo 5 but so far a great looking rifle with a accurate barrel and the rifle is definitely an attention grabber. overall a great gun so far and I have enjoyed it.

My first DD and hope to get more. Expensive but worth it. I would have given 5 stars for quality but the rail bolts were loose from the factory..more of an oversight than a quality issue problem but still maybe do a better inspection of the rifle before shipping.

From the factory to the field; a novel of riflery, the DDM4v7 is.
I'm a new owner of a DDM4v7. Eeeeeeep.

To all readers, this rifle is a marvel of engineering and riflery. My two best friends are Marines and each own a DDM4v7. They encouraged me to get one so... after much research (2 years), I decided to finally get one.

The 15" M-Lok rail is a rival to any competitor's aftermarket or factory rail due to the robust T6 aluminum and hard powdercoat, the integrated swivel QD ports, and the forend extension of the rail which appears as a lip.

The BCG is solid; staking is right on out of the factory. The barrel specs speaks for itself and the upper receiver housing fits flush with the lower receiver. I LOVE that I received a rifle that was immaculate; leaving me plenty of room to place furniture... like moving into a new home!

I was at an indecision of building my own AR, getting a Ruger AR556, or the FN 5.56 variant that was recently released. Many of my colleagues were against me getting a Daniel Defense because they thought I was receiving a "bragging rights rifle" and the "Maserati of rifles".

Now that I have one, I'm shooting tighter groups than all of their custom and factory ARs, regardless of bullet grain. I realized, they were intimidated by me getting a superb rifle. I throw all types of ammo at it; the rifle remains a hungry beast. Of course, I broke in the rifle with 5.56 55 grain brass casing ammunition. After that, I began to use a tremendous variety of ammunition. No disappointments.

Also, because of the flared magwell and mag catcher, I've only experienced issues with ONE magazine manufacturer: Troy Industries, a company known for the polarity of their quality control. MFT, HexMag, PMAG, and GI mags all feed wonderfully. Of course, Daniel Defense mags are my preferred mags; the runner up being GI and PM

I would suggest to apply blue Loctite on the 4 bolts attaching the rail to the receiver if you are using it aggressively in the field. It will keep the rail from tilting. Don't be alarmed. ALWAYS put blue Loctite on any bolt that will be on the gun. Bolts move due to recoil and the blue Loctite will address that issue. Any experienced shooter knows that. I was using the DDM4v7 for rifle training and noticed, after some alligator crawling and sprawling drills, my rail was slightly twisted. Since its a free-floating barrel, accuracy wasn't affected. I immediately addressed it with Loctite and, 24,000 rounds later, no issues with that ever again.

This rifle is a marvelous feat of engineering that makes me wonder; the automatic transmission is another feat that spins my head.

If you're on the fence, know this; you're already looking in the right direction. There's a reason why you've looked this way. You recognize quality, integrity, and craftsmanship consolidated into one unit. No regrets!

I absolutely love my rifle!
I have had my V7 for over a year now and I am absolutely satisfied with the rifle. I have put 1000+ rounds through it of all types(brass, steel, reman.) not a single malfunction. I think the mid length gas system with a 1/7 twist lend themselves to a very reliable and accurate firearm. I did change out the grip and stock not that there was anything wrong with them just the rubber would pull on my beard when shouldering the rifle. I will be buying more Daniel’s rifles in the future.

Sure would like to know why it us sloppy in front if recievers and sling points to large.
I love my DD M4V7. But I do have some complaints. There is more play in the recievers than should be expected in a firearm at this price. And I really must complain that only one yes I said only one of the sling attachment points on my Mlok rail will engage my sling. All the other holes my sling simply falls out.

Best Gun You'll Ever Own
Work of art. Beautiful gun - runs amazing. Super lightweight and reliable. Other AR's have felt bulky to me - this one was slim and feels great in your hands. I've heard bad things about their triggers, I personally think it feels great.

DD firearms definitely aren't on the low end on cost, but the second you hold this gun I promise the cost concern will fade away. The second hell freezes over I'm getting an SBR and a .308 from DD!

Teir one rifle with a small issue
I just purchased a ddm4v7 last week. I shot about 600 rounds and I noticed the front forend was not in line with the upper receiver. After looking at it i saw were three of the four screws that hold the forend in place was missing and the fourth was lose. I called Daniel Defense up and they mailed me replacement screws. I do not know why the screws backed out and don't very much care. The DDM4 is obviously quality I just had a small issue with mine. The point is I had a problem with mine that was fixed quickly and professionally. I would like to see however the safety selector and the port cover be made out of metal instead of polymer. I am sure DD has a engineer smarter than me since i am just a trigger puller that can list a page of reasons why polymer is better but for 1600 bucks a littler metal can go a long way.
With all that being stated about a port cover a safety and a few screws
the ddm4 is a tier one rifle that will have a home in my patrol car and would be my first choice of a partner in a gun fight

I don’t think this is typical of DD from looking at other reviews, I researched this rifle for the quality before purchasing, not happy.
Love the light weight and looks of the gun, noticed rail was severely out of alignment and sent back to DD to align it, noticed my rifle was also recalled for disconnector, received rifle back quickly within a week, impressive turnaround, no paperwork showing anything was done to repair, no emails, no contact from DD, rail still visibly out of alignment.

Man I love it. Excellent rifle and I know now why they cost what they do because they are made great. My favorite by far. Couldn't Be Happier
I bought my DDM4 v7 as my first AR15 and couldn't be happier. I've ran 12 different brands / weight of ammo (bulk through match quality) through it and have never had a single feed issue. I have a Leupold Mark AR 3-9 x 40 mounted on it and am consistently hitting 0.8 MOA with 62 gr "match" factory ammo and around 1.5 - 2.0 MOA at the worst with bulk ammo. Needless to say it's accurate, reliable, and comfortable.

It's been awhile since I bought this m4v7 but I wanted to give a fair review so range time was needed. Flat out I love it. Best gun in my collection I've added some attachments and plan on switching out the trigger and break. Now that said there's nothing wrong with them they're just slandered milspec and I like making things mine and to suit my needs and wants. Shoots straight never a failure to load/fire/eject. Doesnt rattle at all beside the buffer weight that will be swapped out for a silent one would i recommend already did will i buy another Daniel Defence most defenitly..

Amazing Rifle DD does it again
Great rifle to pair with my M4A1 and MK18. Love DD and they have produced another winner. Stays cools when shooting and the weight savings is nice especially if you plan to add optics and or other accessories. Thankfully I have never had an issue with any of the four DD rifles I have. However if I ever do I know they will take care of me and go above and beyond to make sure I am satisfied. That's is why DD is the only rifles of this type I will ever purchase. Can't wait for the wave!! DD if your listening I hope you decide to make pistols and shot guns one day. If I did not love my job I would apply to work here. I met these guys at the NRA show in Atlanta and they are smart and nice guys to. Ok I think I'm done with my fanboi post I am proud to be a DD groupie. :)

The ddm4 v7 is my second DD. I also have a v11 in Tornado and i love it. The ddm4 v7 is just as great. Except that this time around the rifle had loose screws some sticking out at the hand guard mounting. The rifle itself is still grat quality but the finish. Not sure how this one got through the QC. The only reason its not a big deal is because it was an easy fix. A little lock tight. Plus i got a free pair of Oakleys with my purchase so all is forgiven.

It feels great in your hands
This is my first AR. I was never a fan of the "black rifles". I have always enjoyed my old military weapons, they tell stories when you hold them. When I finally decided to purchase an AR I went to a local gun shop planning to spend between $700 and $800. The guy behind the counter handed me a few mid range ARs and I just didn't "feel" anything for them. He handed me a couple low range ARs and I felt even less for them. At this point I was thinking I am just not an AR guy. Then he handed me the DDm4v7. The feel of quality, the balance everything about it felt right. I took it out to the range started at 50 yards and had it sighted in with less than a mag through it. It took even less when I moved to the 100 yard setup. It runs smooth and is just a pleasure to shoot. The hardest thing to get use to is the cleaning. After cleaning my Garands and my M1 carbines, this thing makes you feel like you are forgetting something. In less than a beer, the rifle is clean.

Something's in life are worth a little extra and this rifle is it. I handled many AR's before deciding on a DD and so glad I did. Why spend $500-700 on a budget AR to not be happy with it until you spend another $1,000+ making it into what you kinda want. You can spray perfume on a terd and at the end of the day still have a terd. This rifle is amazing right from the get go. Add sights and/or am optic and enjoy the results.

Quality, looks, function. Just an all around fantastic rifle.
I've wanted an AR for years and had always struggled with the price point of either a budget one or a higher end model. What made my decision is that I would eventually throw $500 worth of upgrades on the budget AR or I could purchase one with everything I needed and wanted outside of the box, sans sights of course. Daniels reputation and quality is what really sealed the deal for me.

This thing is beautiful to look at, shoots so nice. I couldn't be happier to have this as my first AR. You will not be disappointed.

Great rifle for action sports
My first, only and last AR platform. I bought it gently used (hence the price rating), put some Magpul flip-sights on it and have had zero issues with the gun. I run weekly action rifle matches and have put 2-3000 rounds through it in the last year without a hitch (might be time to clean it). It is a fast and accurate rifle.

Accurate, reliable, and affordable rifle.
I purchased this rifle several months ago after handling a ton of different rifles from most every manufacturer. You can spend more on a rifle but I don't believe you will gain much from doing so. This rifle has everything that you will want at a reasonable price and you won't find yourself swapping all the parts out to "make it better". This rifle comes ready for the serious user who wants a patrol rifle, a competition rifle or just a home defense rifle. I trust my life with this rifle and have recommended it to several co-workers in law enforcement.

My first AR 15
I have had guns my entire life, and an avid bird hunter. This is my first time owning an AR 15 and let me tell you, I did a TON of research, asking questions at my local gun shop and other shops in the San Antonio area. I decided on the DDM4v7 because of the quality, and reputation of Danial Defense.

This rifle is so much fun to shoot, extremely accurate and makes you feel like a badass! The quality is over the top.

Couldn't have asked for anything more
This is my first AR, I bought it 6 months ago. I was planning to build one and did a lot of research on what I wanted. When I came across the DDM4V7, it was everything I wanted. I tried to design a build to duplicate the V7 but soon found out it wasn't gaining anything by building my own. I'm absolutely pleased in every aspect with my V7, it a well built bad ass American made rifle.

Best M4 I've owned and the best I've shot!
The best AR that I own. Quality and high performance right outta the box with the EOTech slapped on. Fired 500 rounds that first day and not a single malfunction. Was this gun expensive? You bet it was!
Worth every penny. Since then in the last 7 months I've run hundreds of rounds with multiple optic set ups. It even accepted a CMMG .22 conversion kit with no problems. Handles "Hot Re-Loads" and every form of ammunition I've tried. Accurate from 250 as it is from 25 yards with enough practice - which wasn't much.
Just gotta love the feel right out of the case.

It's... badass. A lil pricey, but hey. My favorite AR in my collection so far. I didn't care for the flash hider, so I ordered another. No-biggie. I also decided to stay iron sight. Bought MBUS Pros for it.

Pure joy.
I bought the V7 as my first AR. With the impending laws coming to CA I wanted to make sure I got a high quality rifle and Daniel Defense has been a brand I have been admiring for the last few years. Got to shoot it for the first time a few weeks back and I can't believe I waited so long to buy one. Once I move out of CA I will definitely be looking to add more to the collection. Can't wait to add a 1-6x scope in the next few weeks.

Nice rifle. But MOE stock on previous gen rifle is a rattle box.
I have the first gen of this rifle. Overall it is a fantastic rifle. I use it primarily for whitetail deer and coyote hunting. I have a couple nitpicky criticisms of it. Mine came equiped with the Magpul MOE buttstock. It is a rattley thing. I use a single point Magpul sling and have to keep my hand on the butt so it doesn't rattle. And I have found ONE type of ammo it simply refuses to digest. These two small issues only allow me to rate it 4/5 in quality.

Hopefully the Milspec colored furniture will be available soon and it will cure the rattly MOE.

Daniel Defense is still on Top!
I've owned my DDM4V7 for a little over two months have already put 1k rounds through it and it has performed flawless. It's accurate and well built. I love the Mlok rail and how light the rifle is. Daniel Defense is the best AR manufacturer for the money hands down.

Just pure perfection
This is my second Daniel Defense rifle, my first was the ddm4 v11 LW. I have built some ars and bought different manufacturers. after buying the ddm4 v11 lw ill never buy anything but a Daniel Defense M4. This Firearms are amazing. They are light weight. There quality and quality control is just outstanding. I love daniel defense rails too. the 15" rails are incurably good looking and add an edge in performance. they even stay cooler temp wise after putting mag after mag in. dont get me wrong they still get toasty but not like other rails. i have not had either my v7 or v11 jam.. not once and i even let them get filthy after a full month of shooting just to see and they still preformed flawlessly. i like the m-lok rail more than the keymod rail. its much smoother and fits in the hand better. dont get me wrong i still love my v11 and i always bring both of them to my land when i shoot. its hard to choose. i actually put a aimpoint red dot on one and a scope on the other so i have a reason to shoot them both. I only change out the triggers and the charging handle. I would like to see Daniel Defense produce a 9mm carbine at a moderately good price. I really want the dd .308 but 3K is expensive. I'm sure its worth it and if i can ever put 4 to 5 thousand in a ar 10 i will buy DD's .308. like i said i will only buy there rifle from here on out. i use to be buy different kinds of guns and manufactures to see whats out there but after owning these rifles i dont have that need. when you know what works and fits you why change. Daniel Defense and Glock have turned me into a one manfatuer kinda guy. if your on the fence about buying a Daniel Defense just buy it and you will never regret it.

All business and drop dead sexy
First the "negative". These are expensive!. I know that the best things in life are not cheap. I had to have it though and I'm by no means sorry I got this rifle. The quality is VERY good. Not many people will say this isn't a good product although I'm sure your out there. It Shoots nice and consistent. I'm not gonna try and tell you that this is the BEST ar-15 made. Nor am I gonna try and tell you that this rifle will be a "game changer" or set THE industry standard. I will tell you that "GOOD" costs money. LOTS of money! and for what it does cost you should have your expectations met or exceeded! This rifle will meet your expectations if you are reasonable. "She" looks hot and shoots sweet. Trigger is not bad at all, does not rattle when shaken and people that don't have a DDM4 will be looking at yours. If you got the cash, then buy this and know you got a Solid performer for Zombies, bad guys and for quality, smile inducing good times at the range!

The rifle is a very well made rifle made from a reputable company.
I purchased my rifle on 06/15/2016 from an online retailer.
The rifle had positive feedback from the retailer and after receiving and operating the rifle, it met expectations.
The rifle operated superbly and wished that the rifle version we used in the Navy for 20 years would have been of this caliber.
Your company created a high quality rifle which I feel will last for a long time. This was the reason for the choice in purchasing this particular weapon. In addition, it received many positive reviews from different magazines.

Amazing quality for the price!
Just bought this rifle, this is one of the best guns I have ever held. I built my last Ar and didn't wanna do the leg work but still knew I had a very specific demand. This gun fit them all! This gun even though not being the LW is still lightweight! It's a very solid gun but also has a solid price, at the price you pay for DD you expect perfection. This gun gives you that and is worth every penny. It's easy to find an entry level Ar but I want high quality parts that will last and delivery great results this gun exceeded my expectations!

Awesome Rifle
I have the original DDM4V7 in Mil-Spec+ and absolutely love it. DD makes the best AR type rifle in the world as far as I'm concerned and the accuracy is sub moa at 100 yds. I did replace the trigger with a Geissele SSA and have a Vortex Vipper PST 1-4x24 scope on it, in which I find to be the perfect set-up. If you want the best, get yourself a DD and don't look back.

Great rifle! Worth the money.
i set out to own the AR pattern rifle and was unsure if I wanted to build up an inexpensive rifle or buy a premium model. I do love to tinker. After some cost evaluation it seeed I could save about $50-$100 by building my own. I would still be left to hope that I had created a good combination. In handling this rifle it's clear that build quality and fit-and-finish are second to none. I made to choice to go with the DDM4V7 and I am very pleased. While sighting in my optic I managed a few sub-MOA groups off sandbags with Winchester white box 55gr FMJ. My fellow shooters were as impressed with the rifle as I was. I would highly recommend. With all that said I have to say that the trigger is ... . We'll lets just say it may be the only part that won't permanently stay.
