A4 Upper Receiver, Assembly

I have built a carbine and a pistol upper using the DD Upper receiver. No issues with this or any other Daniel Defense parts.

It's nice. Super lightweight and I like how subtle the Daniel Defense logo is on the left side. Really has that premium finish. I'm proud of it.

I just started to use daniel defense because people always say it's the best. No issues yet.

Hands down best fit and finish forged upper on the market. Only thing I don’t like is the small logo, and wish it had dry lube finish on the inside. But otherwise these are great uppers, they fit tight on most lowers, especially LMT for some reason.

I have ordered a few of these when I snag them after the in stock alert. After testing the fit of just about every other make of upper out there and building dozens and dozens of AR15’s for the past 8 years or so, the Daniel Defense uppers I find have the tightest fit on the widest variety of lowers I have seen. Some even too tight to where the pins won’t close, so be mindful. This can be helpful on those especially “loose” lowers, where most uppers would have a really sloppy fit. As far as uppers go, they are like a work of art compared to others. The anodized finish is impeccable, better than ANY upper out there I have seen, it’s silky smooth solid black but not too shiny and not too dull. The top pic rail sections are scalloped not square so they are not too sharp and gives it a super clean finished look. The laser engraved T-marks are also beautifully done and not obnoxiously big or goofy looking. It also come with a pinned (not pressed) mil-spec forward assist, secured with a coil pin (not spring pin, which I think is a nice touch). No dings or scratches from the installation process whatsoever. Also comes with the nice polymer DD ejection port cover, with blackened spring, and c clip, which I like instead of the common silver. The M4 feed ramps are impeccable and line up perfectly with any in-spec high quality barrel extension feed ramps from well-known mil-spec manufacturers. The only thing I would like to see is dry-lube coating on the interior bore (per mil-spec), and would rather do without the logo, so it would match any lower, but I don’t mind it too much, because it’s not obnoxiously done. Plus my name is Daniel anyway so it’s cool. So overall my two cents which no one cares about, this is the best upper receiver on the market. Period. This why they are always sold out.

Hello. Ok, I finally got my part, and about 10-15 min I got my alert, went online and purchased it. Maybe 30 min later, sold out. What can I say about that….it’s Daniel Defense, enough said…You’ve got an get the biggest bag for your Buck and it’s sooooo well worth it!! I got great help and they were always there to answer any of my questions, and never left me hanging!! This is top of the line and you know your getting the really great stuff, so I’m ridiculously happy and seriously look forward to getting more parts!! This is my very first build, 300 blackout and I knew what I was getting and doing with it!!!! THANK YOU SO DANIEL DEFENSE!!!!!! Much love!! I can’t give more stars unfortunately.

This is a great upper receiver!! I bought this upper receiver to build up a 12.5 Upper, using only Daniel Defense parts for my sbr. Using a Daniel Defense 12.5 barrel, DD upper receiver, DD mfr rail, and DD BCG, DD gas tube. The upper looks great! All my rifles are Daniel Defense or only built with Daniel Defense parts. Keep rocking it out guys!! I will be buying another one of these uppers for another 12.5 build.

It is a very well made upper receiver, the T marks are nice but go from t1 - t13 instead of the standard t2 - t12. Doesn't appear to be dry film lubed per mil spec on the inside. Otherwise I'm pleased

I am going to say this. The quality is amazing. You are getting the best there is when you buy this product. But, a BCM upper costs half of this and may be a bit behind in quality, but not much. I just hope to see the price drop a little on this product.

These are great receivers. You get DD quality machining for not much more than typical mystery meat uppers.
